Set Up Your React Health Oxygen Concentrator

Connect Your Humidifier

You don’t always need a humidifier with an oxygen concentrator, but drawing from our experience, we know that they’re often used together. This is because oxygen is dry, and frequent, prolonged, use can cause your throat and nasal passages to dry out.

So, if a humidifier has been prescribed to you, you will need to understand how to attach the humidifier to your oxygen concentrator.

The first thing that you’ll need to do is remove the cap of the humidifier bottle and fill it with distilled water for your oxygen concentrator. Can you use tap water in oxygen concentrator? You could also use tap water, but you would need to boil it and allow it to cool beforehand.

After that, attach it to the designated spot on your oxygen concentrator as per the user manual.

Connect Your Nasal Cannula

Start by removing the cannula from its packaging. Place the tubing over your ears, and the prongs in your nose.

Connect the nasal cannula to your oxygen concentrator. If you’re using a humidifier bottle, you’ll need to attach the other end of the nasal cannula to the outlet of the humidifier bottle.

If you are not using a humidifier bottle, connect the nasal cannula to the oxygen outlet connector that can be found on your oxygen concentrator.

Since the chronic use of oxygen can cause dryness and irritation to your throat and mouth, the chances that you will end up using a humidifier with your React Health Oxygen Concentrator is fairly high though. So it’s likely that the nasal cannula will need to be connected to the humidifier bottle.

One thing that you need to check thoroughly is that there are no kinks in your nasal cannula. Any kinks, even small, will impact how much oxygen is delivered to you. This could be detrimental, as it could largely restrict the oxygen you are getting.

Turn Your Machine On

Once all of this has been set up, it is time to turn on your React Health oxygen concentrator.

Firstly, make sure that your oxygen concentrator is plugged into the power supply at the wall. Turn this power supply on before you turn the machine on.

You will see a large power switch on the right of your oxygen concentrator’s face. Turn this on, and wait to hear an audible alarm that will last one second. This will indicate that your oxygen concentrator is on and has powered up correctly.

Adjust Your Oxygen Flow Rate

Once your machine is on, you need to adjust the oxygen concentrator settings to the flow rate that has been prescribed to you by your healthcare professional.

On your React Health oxygen concentrator, there will be a knob on the left side of the machine’s face. This is where you can adjust the oxygen flow rate quickly and efficiently.

When you set the oxygen level on your concentrator, it’s imperative that you use the exact oxygen dosage that was prescribed to you by your healthcare professional.

Through our knowledge, we know that using the incorrect dosage, be it more or less, can be harmful to your health, and we do not recommend it at all.

If your React Health Oxygen Concnetrator’s flow rate falls below 0.5 liters per minute for longer than a minute an alert called “Potential Obstruction Alert” will be triggered. This will make a rapid beeping noise that will only stop when the flow rate rises to between 0.5 and 0.75 liters per minute or higher.

If this alarm sounds, make sure that there are no kinks in your nasal cannula, and ensure that the humidifier is not defective.

A flow rate of below 0.5 liters per minute can be very dangerous, so this is a very smart response from the machine to ensure that your well-being is looked after and that your oxygen flow rate is never compromised.
